Komodo 6 Gets Even Better

Komodo 6 just got even better with the release of Komodo 6.1!

Revised and Enhanced Projects and Places

A number of our Komodo 5 users told us that they missed the old Projects system. By popular demand, we've brought back some of those features in Projects & Places. If you're one of those people, or you've never tried Komodo IDE, try out the updated interface.

Enhanced Django Support

Komodo IDE 6 was released with support for more languages than ever, including HTML 5, CSS 3, Python 3. With the release of Komodo 6.1, we've added even more support for Django:

  • Better syntax highlighting and smarter indentation for templates
  • Automatic code completions for Django template tags and filters
  • Syntax checking for templates
  • Hyperlinks to easily jump to template file locations

Give Komodo IDE 6.1 a try; we think you'll like what you see!

Using Gunicorn on the ActivePython AMI

Last month we posted a screencast from Raymond Hettinger of Python Academy on Getting Started with the ActivePython AMI on EC2. For this follow-up post, Mike Ivanov walks us through swapping the default Apache web server for Gunicorn (aka Green Unicorn, a Python WSGI web server) which is a popular replacement for Django environments.

This tutorial continues on from the Building a Python-centric WebServer in the Cloud tutorial. See the full tutorial to help get you started with gunicorn on ActivePython Amazon EC2 servers.

WEBINAR TOMORROW:
Embed Mathematical & Statistical Functionality into Python Applications with PyIMSL & IMSL Libraries

Date: Tomorrow! Wednesday, February 9, 2011
Time: 10am PST/ 11am CMT/1pm EST

Space is limited, so reserve your seat now!

Following on the announcement of our partnership with Rogue Wave a couple of weeks ago, we're hosting a free webinar for all you Pythonistas and financial engineers to learn more about the power in this new offering. If you're developing financial or scientific applications, learn how to use Python, PyIMSL, and Rogue's IMSL Libraries to embed mathematical and statistical functions in your applications.

We'll have Rogue Wave's Steve Lang show you how you can save time with pre-written algorithms. And our own Diane Mueller talk about how you can access them through PyIMSL wrappers in ActivePython.

Register today and you will see:

  • How to access the PyIMSL Libraries with ActivePython
  • How to save time with all the pre-built analytic capabilities of PyIMSL, including a demo
  • Example of charting using the matplotlib module
  • Demonstration of AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA)

Register online to reserve your seat!

See you there!

PPM (Perl Package Manager) Index Now Available!

We are happy to announce the launch of PPM Index!

PPM Index allows you to easily search the ActivePerl package repository of almost 15,000 Perl modules. You can search by name, author or keywords in the description. Browse through popular modules and sort them by name, release date or popularity. When you find the module you're looking for, PPM Index gives you:

  • Package availability by platform, OS and Perl version
  • Links to documentation
  • RSS feeds for build status

Search PPM Index Now!

Want more support? Get more with ActivePerl Business Edition, Enterprise Edition and OEM Edition.

There will be no February Quick Poll as we prepare for a larger survey that we'll be sharing with you shortly.

January's quick poll t-shirt winner was Howard from UZ2 Design. Read on to see what resolutions developers like you set for yourself this year.
