Issue 42 March 2012 Welcome to the March issue of the ActiveState Code to Cloud Newsletter! In this issue you'll find: Stackato 1.0 Now Available! Appsembler Announces Stackato Integration Komodo IDE 7 Sale Extended Blog: Syntax Checking in Komodo 7 As always, please feel free to drop us a line if you have ideas for future issues or feedback.   The ActiveState Team Stackato 1.0 Now Available! Last week we launched Stackato 1.0! Although it was an important day for ActiveState, it was a far more important day for developers and enterprises looking to move to the cloud. Stackato is the application platform for creating a private, secure, flexible Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) using any language on any stack on any cloud. From the desktop to the datacenter, Stackato makes it easy to develop, deploy, migrate, scale, manage, and monitor applications on any cloud. With Stackato, developers can simulate a production environment on a local machine, code, test, and then launch an application to any cloud. And Enterprise IT can achieve new levels of data security, reduce time to market, save money, ensure compliance, and gain greater control over the cloud. Learn more about Stackato and download the Stackato Micro Cloud today to get started. Stackato’s ability to support any technology platform, its ease of deployment and support for private cloud PaaS environments gives it a clear leadership position in the increasingly crowded PaaS space. Competitors include Red Hat’s OpenShift, CloudBees and Cloud Foundry, though few vendors match its combination of flexibility and ability to deploy private cloud PaaS environments. — Arnal Dayaratna, Cloud Computing Today Appsembler to Leverage Stackato for Hosted Service Appsembler has integrated ActiveState's Stackato application platform technology into its namesake hosted-service offering for Web applications in the cloud. Appsembler helps developers sell web applications as a hosted on-demand service with all billing, payment processing, hosting and customer-engagement hooks seamlessly and securely integrated. "We decided in January 2012 to create Appsembler", says CEO Nate Aune. "With Stackato, we're ready to launch in March. That's three months from concept to productization..."
