I’m reaching out because you’ve downloaded ActivePerl Community Edition, and I wanted to quickly touch base about how you are using it, and the other editions of our software you might want to consider.
Am I using the right edition?
This is a common question we get asked... So see which one below best fits your situation:
- If you're using ActivePerl for personal use, or for corporate use only in a dev or test environment, then you may keep using Community Edition.
- If you're using ActivePerl to create scripts that are being deployed or used in production, or installing it on production servers, you'll need a Business or Enterprise Edition license.
- If you're redistributing ActivePerl, OEM licensing is required.
Many of our customers have purchased a Business Edition of ActivePerl because they require a legacy version of ActivePerl (5.20 or earlier), have open source compliance requirements at their organization, or require a technical contact for email support.
If you think you or your organization might need Business Edition, buy directly online or contact me to find out more--call me at 778-786-1100 or just reply to this email.

P.S. If you’re looking to redistribute ActivePerl, have a large number of servers, or will be deploying scripts on Big Iron servers, I would be happy to introduce you to one of my colleagues to discuss our Enterprise and OEM solutions.
