2016 is Almost Over! Do You Have All the Tools and Languages You Need?

Get Your Open Source Languages and Development Tools Before It's Too Late!

The end of the year is just around the corner and you need to start planning for next year. Why not use some of that leftover budget from 2016 to help prepare your team for success in the new year!

Now is a great time to start thinking about what language and development tools your teams need for the coming year in order to be prepared and successful. Some tools and languages to think about include:

  • KOMODO IDE
If you use Python, Perl, Ruby, Node.js, Tcl, Go, PHP, or a multitude of other languages, consider picking up a license for our polyglot IDE, Komodo.

  • BUSINESS or ENTERPRISE EDITION FOR PERL, PYTHON, TCL
If you need to use Perl, Python, or Tcl in production, need access to older versions, support for additional platforms or require commercial support, consider ActiveState Business Edition. If you need to use these products site-wide with even stronger support and SLA options, or if you need indemnification, check out ActiveState Enterprise Edition. Get a quote or reply to this message and we can help you determine which option is right for you.

  • REDISTRIBUTION RIGHTS FOR PERL, PYTHON, TCL
If you need to include our languages in your application ActiveState’s OEM Edition is right for you. Contact us for licensing options.

  • ACTIVEGO ARRIVING IN FEBRUARY 2017
Check out our recent announcement that ActiveGo, the first new distribution of Go, will be arriving in February 2017 and be first in line!

  • INTERESTED IN RUBY, NODE.JS, OR LUA?
ActiveState recently announced that we will also be offering Ruby, Node.js, and Lua in 2017. If you are interested in one using these languages or need something more custom, feel free to contact us so we can set you up for success with a quote!

Cheers,
The ActiveState Team

Use Your 2016 Budget Before It's Too Late!

Use Your 2016 Budget Before It's Too Late!

The end of the year is around the corner and that means the end of the fiscal year for a lot of companies. Consequently, you may still have some of your budget left to be used, which you can’t carry over to next year.

Now is a great time to start thinking about what tools your team needs now or may need in the coming year for upcoming projects, such as the language and development tools they need to be successful:

  • KOMODO IDE
If you use Python, Perl, Ruby, Node.js, Tcl, Go, PHP, or a multitude of other languages, consider picking up a license for our polyglot IDE, Komodo.

Webinar Today! ActiveState adds Ruby, Node.js, Go, and Lua Language Distributions

WEBINAR: ActiveState - The Open Source Languages Company

Special Announcement: ActiveState recently announced the addition of four new languages to our language distribution portfolio.

Register now for today's webinar!

According to BlackDuck’s recent survey*, over three-quarters of all enterprises run on some form of open source software. Many use open source within their mission-critical IT portfolios, whether they know it or not - and open source languages are a major component of this open source usage.

However, unsupported open source is often insufficient for SMB-to-large corporations in today’s multi-faceted and complicated technology landscape. Many enterprises remain wary of open source, citing multi-platform support, indemnification, legacy versions, and commercial support as critical to their software success. ActiveState will be building support for both community users and enterprises with the introduction of ActiveRuby, ActiveNode, ActiveGo, and ActiveLua. These new languages are in addition to ActiveState’s popular ActivePerl, ActivePython, and ActiveTcl.

Join ActiveState CEO Bart Copeland and Director of Engineering Tom Radcliffe today as they discuss these enterprise needs and how ActiveState’s newest open source enterprise language distributions for Ruby, Node.js, Go, and Lua will help enterprises remain agile, innovative, and secure.

Register now so that you don't miss this interesting discussion, today at 10am PST/1pm EST.

All the best,

The ActiveState Team

Tipping Point in Open Source Security
In the past couple of years we have seen some of the biggest security issues in open source, including Heartbleed, Shellshock, and POODLE. More recently, in March of this year, we faced the cross-protocol security bug DROWN. The impact of these security holes has been far-reaching--millions of users and sites were affected.

Find out how Komodo supports remote file editing. While others may use SSH, open remote files the same way you'd open a local file: File --> Open.

ActiveState's Next Chapter by Bart Copeland
It's been a little over a year since the sale of our Stackato business to HPE, and during this time we've been working hard on the next phase of ActiveState. We wanted to ensure that whatever we did would unify our company--we didn't want to end up with different business units...

Announcing ActiveState Ruby, Node.js, Lua, Go Languages

Introducing The Open Source Languages Company + Ruby, Node.js, Lua, and Go Added

Hi sherly,

ActiveState is now “The Open Source Languages Company”, and we’re announcing the upcoming release of ActiveRuby™, ActiveNode™, ActiveLua™, and ActiveGo™ to complement our ActivePerl®, ActivePython®, and ActiveTcl® distributions. This is very exciting for us, but also for the communities we build within. We hope it’s exciting to you, too!

We will be offering the same distribution options, support, and enterprise additions with our new languages as we do with our existing ones. Plus, all of the languages (including Perl, Python, and Tcl) will be further enhanced to make them safer, make managing packages easier, and will soon include some of the languages’ most popular modules, by default, on language installation.

In the meantime, you can check out what’s coming for the languages—sign up to be the first to get access to the distributions when they are released:
