To view this email as a web page, click here

Hi sherly,

Learn more about the cloud and the benefits of a private PaaS for enterprise with these upcoming webinars. If you're interested in learning more about cloud options, private PaaS or Stackato for your organization, we think you'll want to join us.

Webinar: Why Private PaaS is not an Oxymoron

Presented by:
Patrick Chanezon, VMware Senior Director, Developer Relations
Bart Copeland, ActiveState CEO and President

Date: Wednesday, November 16, 2011
Time: 10:00 - 11:00 AM PST (13:00 - 14:00 EST)

Register now.

PaaS promises to trim development and deployment time from months and years to days and weeks, but what are the signs of a true PaaS powerhouse? Is it simply free of servers or software to manage? Does it provide automatic upgrades and elasticity? Can you develop in multiple languages?

When you hear of PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) what typically comes to mind are names like Heroku, EngineYard, DotCloud, and CloudFoundry.com–hosted Public PaaS providers. With the increasing focus on development of SaaS applications and some clear advantages to placing IT infrastructure in the cloud, these PaaS providers have had some trouble gaining significant traction with enterprises despite obvious advantages.

There is an emerging trend where enterprises require PaaS capabilities, but are demanding it on their own terms. They want a PaaS behind their own firewall to enable a secure cloud–a private PaaS.

Join the webinar to learn about:

  • The landscape and drivers for Private PaaS
  • Issues for enterprises moving development resources to the cloud
  • How a Private PaaS differs from a Public PaaS
  • Avoiding vendor lock-in
  • What to consider when implementing and deploying a Private PaaS

Space is limited so reserve your seat now.

Webinar: US Patriot Act - Making the Case for Enterprise Private Cloud

Presented by:
Diane Mueller, ActiveState's Director Enterprise Product Management

Date: Thursday, December 1, 2011
Time: 10:00 - 11:00 AM PST (13:00 - 14:00 EST)

Register now.

Is the US Patriot Act causing you to hesitate on leveraging the cloud in your enterprise? Do you want to leverage the power of cloud computing but unsure what the security and privacy implications are for sensitive corporate data?

Corporations are thinking long and hard about the legal and regulatory implications of cloud computing. When it comes to actual corporate data, no matter what the efficiency gains are, legal departments are often directing IT departments to steer clear of any service that eliminates their ability to keep potential sensitive information out of the hands of Federal prosecutors.
Despite all the hype about every application moving into the cloud, some practical patterns are starting to emerge in the types of data corporations are willing to move to the cloud.  Learn how to create a secure, compliant, private platform and cloud for developing, distributing and managing enterprise applications.

Join Diane Mueller, Director Enterprise Product Management, as she discusses:

  • Implications of the US Patriot Act on Cloud Computing
  • What types of applications should stay on-premise
  • Classes of applications that best leverage the cloud
  • Moving to a Private Cloud Model
  • How to deploy an Enterprise Private PaaS

Join us for this webinar - space is limited.

Now you can now choose whether to test Stackato, our cloud platform for creating a private Platform as a Service, on a micro cloud (VM) or with the new Stackato Sandbox!

The Stackato Sandbox service makes it easier for you to test deployment of your Perl apps to a privately hosted environment on Amazon EC2, complete with hosting, security, and scaling of applications.

The Stackato Sandbox1 lets you experience:

  • Deployment to the cloud (hosted on Amazon EC2)
  • Scaling: scale the number of instances and memory allocation
  • Enhanced multi-tenant security model: each application in its own LXC container

Stackato Beta testers can now use the Stackato Sandbox to try running a private PaaS on Amazon EC2  for up to three months.2

Signup for the Stackato Beta. Once you've been accepted to the program, login to the Stackato Beta community, redeem your Beta invite code, and request access to the Sandbox. When free space is available in the Sandbox, you will be granted access. Remember, Stackato makes deploying new or migrating existing Perl apps to the cloud quick and easy.

Try the Stackato Sandbox today and you could win!

To celebrate the Stackato Sandbox launch, we're giving away a $1000 trip to a sunny destination3. Life really is a beach!

We hope you'll take advantage of this great opportunity to try the Stackato Sandbox, send us your feedback, and win.

The Stackato Team

The nitty gritty details can be found here:

1

Access to the Sandbox is subject to space availability, and users will gain access in order of requests received. Beta testers requesting access will be placed in a queue and notified when space becomes available. For testing purposes; not to be used for production. At end of your three month Sandbox term, all Sandbox containers will be deleted entirely with no mechanism to restore any of the contents.

2 The three month access period begins as soon as the automated acceptance notification email is sent; users will receive notice when their trial ends via email as well. Find out more about the Sandbox.

3 "Life's a Beach" contest details can be found on our site.
